Cuba is the jewel of the Carribean-the independent island nation. But the issues of personal and political freedom persist, often resulting in the perilous choice to flee on a raft into shark infested waters and possible death.

Cuba is another place I feel at home, despite it's issues and politics. But like Haiti, it's people survive unfathomable cruelty brought on them by man and nature. Hope is theirs to embrace.
