Every year the greatest show on earth arrived at the train yards of New York City. The clowns, elephants, dogs and performers would parade the streets of Manhattan to Madison Square Garden. The sadness of the animals and their handlers caused an uneasy feeling in me, but at the same time, a great sense of energy and discovery.
