Photographing on a near daily basis, and drawn by an impulse to document the struggles for survival and everyday life close to home, Ángel Franco, a freelance photographer at the time who was as accustomed to covering wars in Latin America as news stories in New York, accompanied officers and detectives from New York's famed 46th precinct in the west Central Bronx over a period of five years.
